Hamilton Beach Stand Mixer

By Jesse Kesler

The Hamilton Beach Stand mixer was first introduced in 1925. The brand has been popular over the years for producing an economical reliable line of household appliances including the electric knife, blenders, toasters, hand mixers, and juicers. They merged with Proctor-Silex in 1990 and kept both brand names active.

The companies first stand mixer called the Model A was manufactured in 1925. By 1934 they introduced a third generation model called the Model C. Today Hamilton Beach has a number of models and colors to choose from in their popular Electrics stand mixer line. You can purchase the Electrics mixer in metallic (silver gray), licorice (black), carmine (red), or sugar (white).

In some respects this product could be considered a light weight in the kitchen stand mixer category. The motor is only 400 watts with the competition such as Kitchenaid, Viking and Bosch featuring motors ranging from 700-1000 watts. On the other hand for an average home kitchen how big do you need your mixer to be? The Hamilton Beach features a 4.5 quart sized bowl which the motor is more than adequate to work with. The Electrics mixer will mix three loaves of bread or a single batch of cookies without struggling. For the average family of 3 or 4 this is more than sufficient.

Features:
The bowl has a handle on it which is very convenient and ensures that the bowl won’t slip out of your hands while carrying it.

The beaters mix in a two way (counter rotating) direction for thorough mixing of ingredients.

The motor has twelve speeds or settings for all your mixing needs.

The company has a surprisingly good warranty promising to replace the mixer if it malfunctions in any way for a full three years.

Hamilton Beach customers are very happy with their mixers. Product reviews rival their larger mixer competitors.

All Electrics models come with a flat beater for mixing, whisk for cream and liquids, and dough hook for breads and thick batters.

In summary, if you are shopping around for a mixer that is a notch or two above a featherweight like the usual hand mixers are and you don’t want the monster mixer that can do 12 loaves of bread in a single batch then the Hamilton beach stand mixer is just right.  I don’t recommend looking for a rebuilt or refurbished model in this product line as the retail cost for a brand new one is low enough that it probably doesn’t make economic sense to rebuild them. In fact, an internet search for rebuilt Hamilton beach mixer did not yield any direct hits. The average retail price for new models ranges from $100 to $220.
